简介:Somewhere in the remote region, the war ends. In the midst of ruined cities and houses in the streets, in rural hamlets, everywhere where people still live, are children who have lost their homes and parents. Abandoned, hungry, and in rags, defenseless and humiliated, they wander through the world. Hunger drives them. Little streams of orphans merge into a river which rushes forward and submerges everything in its path. The children do not know any feeling; they know only the world of their enemies. They fight, steal, struggle for a mouthful of food, and violence is merely a means to get it. A gang led by Cahoun finds a refuge in an abandoned castle and encounters an old composer who has voluntarily retired into solitude from a world of hatred, treason, and crime. How can they find a common ground, how can they become mutual friends The castle becomes their hiding place but possibly it will also be their first home which they may organize and must defend. But even for this, the price will be very high.  To this simple story, the journalist, writer, poet, scriptwriter, movie director, and film theoretician Béla Balázs applied many years of experience. He and the director Géza Radványi created a work which opened a new postwar chapter in Hungarian film. Surprisingly, this film has not lost any of its impact over the years, especially on a profound philosophical level. That is to say, it is not merely a movie about war; it is not important in what location and in what period of time it takes place. It is a story outside of time about the joyless fate of children who pay dearly for the cruel war games of adults.  At the time it was premiered, the movie was enthusiastically received by the critics. The main roles were taken by streetwise boys of a children's group who created their roles improvisationally in close contact with a few professional actors, and in the children's acting their own fresh experience of war's turmoil appears to be reflected. At the same time, their performance fits admirably into the mosaic of a very complex movie language. Balázs's influence revealed itself, above all, in the introductory sequences an air raid on an amusement park, seen in a montage of dramatic situations evoking the last spasms of war, where, undoubtedly, we discern the influence of classical Soviet cinematography. Shooting, the boy's escape, the locomotive's wheels, the shadows of soldiers with submachine guns, the sound of a whistle—the images are linked together in abrupt sequences in which varying shots and expressive sharp sounds are emphasized. A perfectly planned screenplay avoided all elements of sentimentality, time-worn stereotypes of wronged children, romanticism and cheap simplification. The authors succeeded in bridging the perilous dramatic abyss of the metamorphosis of a children's community. Their telling of the story (the scene of pillaging, the assault on the castle, etc) independently introduced some neorealist elements which, at that time, were being propagated in Italy by De Sica, Rossellini, and other film artists. The rebukes of contemporary critics, who called attention to formalism for its own sake have been forgotten. The masterly art of cameraman Barnabás Hegyi gives vitality to the poetic images. His angle shots of the children, his composition of scenes in the castle interior, are a living document of the times, and underline the atmosphere and the characters of the protagonists. The success of the picture was also enhanced by the musical art of composer Dénes Buday who, in tense situations, inserted the theme of the Marseilaise into the movie's structure, as a motive of community unification, as an expression of friendship and the possibility of understanding.  Valahol Europaban is the first significant postwar Hungarian film. It originated in a relaxed atmosphere, replete with joy and euphoria, and it includes these elements in order to demonstrate the strength of humanism, tolerance, and friendship. It represents a general condemnation of war anywhere in the world, in any form.

简介:1955年春天,中國政府受到亞非會議五個發起國的邀請,決定派出以周恩來總理爲團長的中國政府代表團參加在印度尼西亞的萬隆市舉行的亞非會議。臺灣特務得到情報開始密謀策劃謀害周總理,周恩來總理受到緬甸總理吳努的邀請先期經昆明去緬甸首都仰光參加六國總理的會晤。這時從香港啓德機場起飛的中國政府租用的印度“克什米爾公主號”飛機,被臺灣特務密謀在飛往印尼途中炸燬,機上十一名中國代表團的先遣人員和外國記者全部遇難,舉世震驚。面對紛紜複雜的國際形式和臺灣特務的破壞,周恩來不顧個人的安危,決定按原計劃繼續乘坐印度飛機“空中霸王號”飛往印尼。印度尼亞的華僑們懷着極大的愛國熱情爲歡迎祖國的總理和代表團的到來做着各項籌備工作,以僑領麥公爲首的華僑聯合會爲代表團捐車捐物,並且組成了各種服務小組。當周總理一行冒着重重危險抵達雅加達瑪腰蘭機場時,受到了當地羣衆和華僑的熱烈歡迎,整個機場被圍得水泄不通。  亞非會議的召開,是二次大戰後衆多剛剛從殖民主義的統治下獨立起來的亞非國家首腦的第一次聚會。美國政府也派出了一個龐大的所謂記者代表團參加了這次會議。在複雜的國際政治背景下,大家懷着良好的願望而來,卻又意見很不統一,一些代表對共產主義心存疑慮,提出蘇聯共產主義是一種新的殖民主義,也提出了華僑的雙重國籍問題所可能造成的威脅。會議面臨着失敗的邊緣。中國代表團的書面發言已經印發給大家,原來不準備再作大會發言,但面對這種情況,周恩來總理臨時請求大會發言,他的“中國代表團是來講團結的,不是來吵架的:中國代表團是來求同的,不是來立異的……”語驚四座。他的無比的真誠打消了與會代表的疑慮,也使亞非國家找到了共同團結的基礎。在萬隆會議期間,臺灣特務組織了一個二十八人的敢死隊鐵血團,密謀殺害周總理,在印尼政府和華僑的保衛下他們的陰謀未能得逞。亞非會議期間,周恩來總理日理萬機,利用一切機會廣交朋友,七天時間他只睡了13個小時。經過周恩來、陳毅爲首的中國政府代表團的努力,終於團結亞非代表確立了“和平共處五項原則”,使之成爲以後國與國之間交往的基本準則,同時,也確立了新中國在紛紜複雜的國際政治舞臺上不動搖的地位。

简介:伊朗電影傑作《風之棋局》(1976)今年完成修復並參與多個電影節,此前其實很少人看過!這部片在1976年曾入選德黑蘭國際電影節並舉行試映會,可惜放映被惡意妨礙——放映機發生故障,菲林亦遭到破壞,後來電影節評委將視頻從競賽中撤出。在沒有發行商願意投資的情況下,製片人再沒將視頻送到任何電影節或舉辦任何公開放映(據說著名影人Henri Langlois、羅塞里尼和薩耶哲雷在一些私人放映中看過,讚不絕口)。1979年伊斯蘭革命後,此片更因其非伊斯蘭教內容被禁。隨後原底片丟失,坊間只流傳一個經審查的低清VHS版本。 佚失四十多年後,導演的兒子竟在一個賣舊戲服配飾的跳蚤市場上,偶然地發現了此片的35毫米底片及聲片!他立即買下並送到法國。視頻由電影基金會修復,過程更由導演及其女兒親自監督,此片的攝影師Houshang Baharlou亦親身參與調色工序...
